With a view to raise awareness about the global issue of population, Bhartiya Vidya Mandir USN, observed World Population Day today. Aprising everyone, Mrs Priyanka (TGT S.St) delved upon the reasons and the consequences of population explosion .She also said that the count has already touched the 8 billion mark, which is a global concern. This year the theme for world population day is- A world of 8 billion: Towards a resilient future for all - Harnessing opportunities and ensuring rights and choices for all".On this day, students of class V participated in slogan speaking activity to highlight the urgency of controlling over- population. The students of class VI expressed their deep concern and care through poster making activity. Students of class VII recited thought provoking poems on the theme. The students of class VIII linked the menace of population with issues like poverty, unemployment, lack of education and accommodation through Histogram making activity. Students of grade IX participated enthusiastically in group discussion on 'Impact of Increasing Population' and remarked that huge growth in population may lead to shortage of food and water and may deplete natural resources also. Students of grade X wrote articles for newspaper. Principal Mrs. Ranju Mangal stated that as this situation is indeed a threat to our planet and humanity as well, we need to take timely steps to control it and make the world a better place to live in.
